How It All Started
Look, I'll be straight with you - this whole thing started in a cramped single-bay garage off East Hastings. Just me, a lift I bought used, and way too much coffee. I'd been wrenching on European cars for other shops for years, but there was always something missing, y'know? The big chains wanted everything done fast, not done right. I kept seeing these beautiful machines getting half-effort treatments, and it drove me nuts. So I said screw it, took the leap, and Pyrelithaeon was born. Named it something nobody could pronounce 'cause, why not make life interesting?
Word Gets Around
Turns out, there were other folks in Vancouver who actually gave a damn about their cars. Who knew, right? First year was tough - living on instant noodles tough - but clients started showing up. BMW owners who'd been burned by dealership prices. Porsche guys tired of mechanics treating their baby like just another oil change. We moved to our current spot on Granville, added another bay, then another. Brought on Marcus who's an absolute wizard with diagnostics, and Sarah who can tune an ECU blindfolded. Okay, maybe not blindfolded, but she's scary good.
Going Deeper
Performance tuning wasn't originally the plan, but when you've got clients asking if you can squeeze another 50hp out of their M3, you start researching. Got certified in ECU remapping, invested in a proper dyno setup, started building relationships with parts suppliers across Europe. Now we're doing full custom exhaust fabrication, track prep, the whole nine yards. We've had cars leave our shop and go straight to the track at Mission Raceway. That feeling never gets old.
What We're Actually About
Here's the thing - we're not trying to be the cheapest option. Never have been, never will be. What we ARE is honest. If your car doesn't need something, we'll tell you straight up. If there's a cheaper fix that'll work just as well, we'll do that instead. We treat every car like it's our own, 'cause honestly? We're car nerds first, business owners second. The team and I still grab beers after work and argue about the best way to set up suspension geometry. We're those people. Where We're Headed
Still in the same spot on Granville, still obsessed with doing things the right way. We've added more specialized equipment, expanded our capabilities with hybrid and electric performance systems (yeah, those Taycans and i8s need love too), and we're always learning. The car world doesn't sit still, so neither do we. We've got clients who've been with us since that first cramped garage, and that loyalty means everything.
